EVENTS FOR LIFE & THE TOWN OF THE BLUE MOUNTAINS COMMUNITY MURAL PROJECT
Residents are Invited to Participate in Community Mural Project
In partnership with Events for Life (EFL), the Town of The Blue Mountains would like to invite all residents and community members to participate in the Community Mural project. Through collaboration with the Mural Mosaic group, the Community Mural project aims to bring the community together and celebrate the resiliency of The Blue Mountains through challenging times.
Once your participation is confirmed, you can select either a blue or green tile to paint. On any small square canvass, cardstock or paper, create your own unique design using blue or green paint. Once your artwork is complete, you will be asked to submit a photo of your creation digitally, with your final artistic design being combined by the Mural Mosaic group to create the final mural.
“Events for Life is so grateful to be partnering with the Town of The Blue Mountains on this exciting collaborative community project,” says Barb Weeden, Executive Director of Events for Life. “The Mural will represent the courage, strength, and resilience the Events for Life participants had to weather the pandemic. Our roots are planted in this community, and together we will stand strong.”
The finished mural will be 8 feet wide by 8 feet tall and will feature the artwork of approximately 400 members of the community. Tiles will be available through the website until the submission deadline of Friday August 6, 2021.
The final Community Mural will be revealed in mid-August and will be displayed in a Town facility.
Thank You Maureen!
Kemp Award Winner!
We are proud to announce the 29th recipient of the ROBERT G. KEMP ARTS AWARD is EVENTS FOR LIFE!
The bar was set very high this year! Competition was fierce with several exceptional submissions. We encourage each applicant to continue working on all the worthy projects that were submitted.
Events for Life is an outstanding project submitted by Maureen Munden, an artist and arts educator with many years experience providing arts programs to children, youth and individuals with special needs.
Maureen will present a year long arts program for EFL'S 25 adults with special needs in Thornbury, with opportunities for education, experimentation, and exploration.
In September, EFL will be showing their art in a show at The Blue Mountains Public Library Art Gallery in Thornbury. 'A Look Around' will explore the world around us through photography, painting and other artistic projects that compliment the recent Forest School Program and provide an opportunity for individual artistic expression.
The $5,000 Kemp Award was created in 1989 from a trust fund administered by the BMFA with an intent to provide encouragement and or recognition to the artistic development of an individual or group residing in the Southern Georgian Bay area. Each applicant submits a project proposal that will benefit the community.
